It looks to be an exciting weekend planned with Homecoming, including a Light up the Night Parade, Family Fun Run, a softball game, a football game, and a dance, all following Spirit Week and a pep rally at the school. These events are a fantastic way to bring Port Jeff together and show your school spirit. Here's a general overview of what you can expect:
Spirit Week: Leading up to the Homecoming weekend, Spirit Week typically includes themed dress-up days at school. Each day can have a different theme, such as "Pajama Day," "Color Wars," and "Purple and White Day," encouraging students to participate and show their school spirit.
Pep Rally: The pep rally is held on the last day of Spirit Week. It's a high-energy event featuring performances by the school's cheerleaders, football team, and other student groups. Light up the Night Parade: The parade is an exciting and visually stunning event that often takes place the evening before the Homecoming football game. Participants will include school clubs, sports teams, and other groups. Vehicles are illuminated, creating a festive atmosphere. The parade route begins at the high school and concludes at Caroline Field. Be on the lookout for local business specials and discounts. Friday 7:00 pm Family Fun Run: The Jill Nees Russel Family Fun Run is brought to you by the Royal Educational Foundation and is a fundraising event for this great organization which provides grants to our children's classrooms. Alumni Softball Game: This is an excellent opportunity for alumni of all ages to gather and compete in a fun sporting event. 12:00 pm Football Game: The Homecoming football game is often the highlight of the weekend. It's a great time to support your school's team and enjoy some competitive sports action. The Senior players will be honored. Saturday 12 pm
Dance: [editorial update: unfortunately due to low ticket sales, this year's dance was cancelled] The Homecoming dance is a fun way to wrap up the weekend. It's a formal or semi-formal event where students can dance, socialize, and have a good time. Many students attend the dance with their friends or as part of a group. Saturday 7:30 pm
These events are not only enjoyable but also an excellent way to foster a sense of community and school spirit. They offer opportunities for students, parents, and community members to bring Port Jeff together and celebrate our school's identity and achievements. Have a fantastic Homecoming weekend!
